About

Aztlan Athletics (Aztlan Events) owns, manages, develops and operates unique grass-roots, community-based fund-raising run/walk, health and wellness events. Aztlan also provides event management services to strategic community partners that choose to incorporate health & wellness activities for their members and/or employees (Community Wellness).

In 2009 prominent fortune 500 companies, small & midsize began to utilize Aztlan Athletics events within their employee wellness program (Molina Healthcare, Decor Cabnets, GlobeCast, to name a few). Since 2006, new events were developed in strategic areas of Southern California to support the most underserved communities with proceeds. This expansion opened the opportunities for health and wellness service providers to widen their marketing circle to our local, regional and corporate sponsors.

Our strategic goals for 2014-2015 is to strengthen our diverse beneficiary portfolio and reach out to underserved communities that are in need of health and wellness services, while providing them with net proceeds (official charities). These agencies support Aztlan Athletics mission by facilitating awareness about critical social and environment issues impacting the various communities they serve.

Events are owned and/or operated by Aztlan Athletics, which reduces overhead costs, maintains most of the operation in-house, and utilizes existing community partners infrastructures to ensure beneficiaries receive the highest net proceeds possible. Non-profits organizations who are interested in developing their own run/walk, health and wellness events are now able to reach out to Aztlan Athletics and take advantage of their unique fundraising event management model (Participating Charities). These endorsed charities through the foundation arm of Aztlan Athletics are able to use select run/walk events at no cost.

Vision

To develop Aztlan Athletics Event directors throughout the country and provide them with the basic resources needed to build a customized run/walk, health & wellness venue. These national directors will facilitate much needed proceeds to local community- based non-profit agencies endorsed by our foundation.

Agency Grants

Through the support from Aztlan Athletics Foundation, selected non-profit agencies are able to incorporate their own run/walk, heath and wellness event at No Cost! Aztlan Athletics Community Wellness Consultants visit the prospective agency and issue a "Certificate of Endorsement" and work closely with the event management side to select the specific Aztlan Athletics Event that is closest to their target community (Participating Charities). This partnership and award is valued at up to $14,000.00. The selected non-profit agency now incorporated a health & wellness event in their fundraising portfolio with no operational expenses and have the opportunity to widen their exposure by participating at other events throughout Southern California. This is a unique model unmatched in the industry.

Endorsements From Community Partners

Charles R. Trevino, Director of the Upper San Gabriel Municipal Water District

"We are proud to be a part of Aztlan Athletics Events since 2007. Jose Zavala's track record of success in working directly with well deserved non-profit agencies since 1991 and experience in the Child Protection industry will help strengten those agencies already involved. I am impressed with his community engagement model.

They actually develop health & wellness events within the communities of need and open the doors to organizations who truly want to collaborate and be socially responsible by sponsoring or using them for their employee wellness program".

Fr. Gregory Boyle, S.J, Executive Director, Homeboy Industries (November 2009-present)

"On behalf of Homeboy Industries, thank you for creating the first Run 4 Homeboy event to benefit our work and youth, Jose's friendship and support means a great deal to all of us at Homeboy, we thank Jose Zavala for honoring our mission of bringing hope to those most in need of it. An activity, such as running, help our youth understand that there is an entirely different world out there beyond the confines of what they have seen and heard. Aztlan Athletics has helped raise their sights while also introducing another group of people to Homeboy's purpose".

Jim Nice, Director and Founder, Family Unity Model, Oregon Child Protection Services (1995-Present)

"Jose Zavala's leadership in developing and implementing a collaborative-community based conferencing model for Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services has help transform the way our community participates in the decision-making and process for the wellbeing of the children and their future stability. I am impressed with what Jose Luis Zavala has done in implementing similar principals in the run/walk, health and wellness event management field, this is an innovative approach unlike any other model I have seen. Through Aztlan Athletics and their foundation, agencies will be fortunate to be able to utilize this model for not only fundraising and community engagement with social responsible businesses, but to provide much needed proceeds". I endorse the work of Jose Luis Zavala and Aztlan Athletics.
